    [China Daily] Wuhan Textile University launched the large-scale humanities and technology documentary "The Silk Country"

    Recently, the large-scale humanities and technology documentary "The State of Silk" produced by Wuhan Textile University and Hubei Radio and Television Station was broadcast on the documentary channel of CCTV, and received widespread praise.

    Taking silk as the main line, the documentary constructs a four-dimensional narrative system of "history culture science technology future" from the perspective of Chinese civilization, and shows the integration of the brilliant history of silk civilization and contemporary science and technology.It is divided into two episodes, each lasting 25 minutes. It is the first of a series of documentaries, Weaving China.

    The first part, Mutual Learning, combs the development process of Chinese silk weaving technology, focuses on achievements in silk weaving, embroidery, dyeing and finishing, art and other fields, and tells how silk ingeniously combines history with modernity, culture with science and technology, and how to enable people to live a better life.The second chapter, Huanxin, tracks the scientific and technological application of silk, known as the "Queen of Natural Fiber", as a new scientific and technological material in the fields of health care, aviation and aerospace, showing the exploration style and craftsmanship spirit of scholars, experts, technicians and students struggling in the field of textile scientific research, and highlighting the cultural charm and scientific and technological self-confidence of Chinese textile civilization.

    It is reported that the main creative team has consulted more than 200000 words of literature, spent 18 months, visited several important silk towns, and photographed more than 500 hours of material.Nearly 40 teachers and students of Wuhan Textile University participated in the creation, closely combining academic research with documentary creation, and innovatively realized "visualization of academic achievements, science and technology stories and human culture".

    It is reported that the Silk Country, starting from the perspective of Chinese civilization and taking silk as the main line, has constructed a four-dimensional narrative system of "history culture science and technology future": restore the origin of 5000 year silk weaving civilization through archaeological demonstration;Visit intangible cultural heritage workshops and inheritors to show the dialogue between ancient looms and modern technology;Uncover the research and development process of "Chang'e 5" lunar flag, and show the textile "hard core" technology behind the five-star red flag;Focus on the innovative application of silk in medical, intelligent wear and other fields, presenting the prospect of industrial transformation."The State of Silk" has two episodes, the first and the second, each 25 minutes long. Recently, it has been broadcast on the documentary channel of CCTV.

    Liu Ge, Executive Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of the Party Committee of Wuhan Textile University, said that the documentary took silk as an important symbol of Chinese textile culture through exquisite camera language and affectionate narrative structure, showing its important position in historical development and profound influence on modern society, revealing the Chinese story behind the ancient and beautiful silkWorld story.

    Luo Jinyin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of the University, said that the birth of the "Silk Country" is the result of sincere cooperation among all producers, and also an important practice of Wuhan Textile University to promote the inheritance and innovation of textile culture.This cross-border cooperation mode of "universities+media" is not only an innovative practice of cultural communication, but also a vivid example of integration of industry, university and research.

    Li Liangcheng, a 2023 graduate student of the School of Communication of the University, participated in the relevant shooting work in the China Silk Museum.He said happily, "This is not only a major practical creation, but also a lively and meaningful practical teaching course."

    It is reported that the "Silk Country" was jointly produced by the School of Communication of Wuhan Textile University, the Documentary Department of Hubei Radio and Television Station and the Propaganda Department of the Party Committee of Wuhan Textile University.
